Pinterest and Reclaiming Beauty

Pinterest and Reclaiming Beauty

I have had a Pinterest account for a couple of years now. It sure is fun to “pin” lovely things on my “boards”. I have been so inspired by the creative ideas and how easily these ideas can be shared, but I have noticed something that worries me. Many young ladies I know are pinning dream homes, wedding ideas, lovely clothes and party ideas. But some of the “pins” are surprising such as fashion, makeup and movies that I hope they are not really considering watching or wearing. I am not sure that they really understand that what they are “pinning” is telling a story about who they are.

The following verses come to mind…

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” ~1 John 2:15 ~

“likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.

~1 Timothy 2:9 ~

Ladies, please be careful what you are looking at. Do not feed an appreciation for styles and trends that you should not wear or movies with characters that are of the “world”. Make sure your goal is to desire the things that are pleasing to the Lord.
